چکیده

Power metering and monitoring system is a basic element of Smart Grid technology. This paper proposes a new Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) method for a residential building sector using the measured total active power consumption. Home electrical appliances are classified by ON/OFF state models, Multi-state models, and Composite models according to their operational characteristics observed by experiments. In order to disaggregate the operation and the power consumption of each model, an algorithm which includes a switching function, a truth table matrix, and a matching process is presented. Typical profiles of each appliances and disaggregation results are shown and classified. To improve the accuracy, a Time Lagging (TL) algorithm and a Permanent-On model (PO) algorithm are additionally proposed. The method is validated as comparing the simulation results to the experimental ones with high accuracy.

Disaggregation of household load profiles Strom-, Wärme- und Hybridnetze

The expansion of renewable energies triggers problems in today’s energy system, which cause increasing demand for flexibility. Demand Side Management (DSM) supports the integration of renewable energy sources into the energy system. To examine the DSM potential for relevant household appliances (here: dishwasher, washing machine, dryer) precisely, their characteristics, i. e. load profile, time...

An Efficient, Scalable Time-Frequency Method for Tracking Energy Usage of Domestic Appliances Using a Two-Step Classification Algorithm

Load monitoring is the practice of measuring electrical signals in a domestic environment in order to identify which electrical appliances are consuming power. One reason for developing a load monitoring system is to reduce power consumption by increasing consumers’ awareness of which appliances consume the most energy. Another example of an application of load monitoring is activity sensing in...

Unsupervised disaggregation of appliances using aggregated consumption data

Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) is a technique that determines the electrical load composition of a household through a single point of measurement at the main power feed. In contrast with the majority of the existing approaches to solve this problem which require training, here we explore an unsupervised approach to determine the number of appliances in the household, their power consumpt...

Complexity of Power Draws for Load Disaggregation

Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) is a technology offering methods to identify appliances in homes based on their consumption characteristics and the total household demand. Recently, many different novel NILM approaches were introduced, tested on real-world data and evaluated with a common evaluation metric. However, the fair comparison between different NILM approaches even with the usage ...

Towards automatic classification of appliances: Tackling cross talk in EMF sensors using blind source separation techniques

Non Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) is the method of obtaining information about appliance-level power consumption inside a building from voltage and/or current measurements made at a central location in the electrical system. The system that does this kind of power disaggregation typically relies on some sort of training step to help it recognize what types of changes in the observed signal c...
